Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) was established in 2007 as a Petroleum University, initially focusing on fossil fuels and later evolving into a comprehensive energy-focused university in 2021. Located in Gujarat, PDEU is dedicated to advancing energy education, research, and innovation while contributing to India's AatmaNirbhar Bharat initiative. Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), formerly Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, was established under Gujarat State Legislative Act No. 14 on 4 April 2007. It grew out of the Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI), promoted by the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, to create trained specialists for the energy and infrastructure sector. The campus sits in Gandhinagar's Knowledge Corridor and covers roughly 100 acres. PDEU is best known for energy education, with a vision to become a world-class institution of excellence in energy education, research and innovation. Its four schools, Management, Energy Technology, Technology and Liberal Studies, are supported by twenty-four centres of excellence, including a Translational Research Centre working across Industry 4.0 areas such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, additive manufacturing and data science. Campus facilities include a 45 MW solar module assembly line, a smart hybrid microgrid and a biodiesel pilot plant. The university's mission is to nurture students of extraordinary motivation and ability and prepare them for lifelong learning and leadership in a knowledge-driven world. Industry and academic experts contribute to curriculum updates, students join international exposure programmes held since 2010, and undergraduates can take community-oriented courses such as NSS or NCC. Its Innovation and Incubation Centre, recognised by the Department of Science and Technology, has incubated more than 220 start-ups. PDEU is accredited NAAC A++ (CGPA 3.52 out of 4), recognised by UGC under sections 2(f) and 12(B), granted Category I graded autonomy, and recognised as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation by the Government of India. Its Board of Governors is chaired by Dr Mukesh Ambani. Engineering programmes carry AICTE approval, several B.Tech programmes are NBA accredited, and a lively campus life with over forty student clubs rounds out the experience.
